Biography

John has been working as an artist off and on for over thirty five years. After he graduated from BU School of Fine Arts, he apprenticed as a goldsmith for a year, and began his own business as a jeweler in South Yarmouth, Mass. He closed his business after five years and he and his family moved back to upstate New York, where he had grown up. There, John worked as an art administrator, using his skills to hang shows and start programs, but it was not until almost ten years later that he began to paint again in earnest.

Though his previous work had been abstract and figurative, his art evolved very quickly into interpretive landscapes of the farmland and hills that made up his immediate surroundings.

Events of the past few years have led John to concentrate even more on his passion for painting. Not only is he more prolific than ever, but his style has changed and evolved, making his paintings more personal, and at the same time more universal, than ever.
